Editing Room / Editing Territories (8 min.)

Editing Room / Editing Territories is a 10 channels video installation constituted by one short videofilm and nine surveillance videos, all shown on flatscreen monitors. All the videos are strongly connected to each other in order to create a narrative network, to reconstruct a story and a territory at the same time.
The general aspect of the installation simulates a high tech editing/surveillance room.
The work approaches the question of the double and alienation (human as well as architectural) through two women characters wandering in a no man’s land invaded by nature, an abandonned housing estate.
In this installation, the video medium is used on one hand as a microscope allowing the perception of tiny gestures and emotions between the two women. It allows to capture their intense and specific relationships. On the other hand, the videos function in a macroscopic way as a surveillance camera in order to take totally control of the space and recreate a complete overview of the whole housing estate territory.
The setting around the women looks very urban and wild at the same time. The main building where they hide is almost entirely coved by plants and trees. Its architecture absorbs and reflects the rituals of the two women.
