L’Urgence des Fleurs - video installation
views of the installation by Robert Hofer, an exhibition at Ferme-Asile, Sion
L’Urgence des Fleurs is a video installation including 23 videos (14 projections and 9 monitors). This installation, built as a labyrinth, is based on the strange collections of Emilie G. who was born in 1913 and lived in the same house from 1930 until 2007. Emilie has two passions: her garden and movies. At the end of her life, when her house was emptied, we discovered that she was writing every single moment of her life on notebooks. We found also little notes glued on each object of the house, even on the most useless ones as on the stones she used to collect. We also found out that she was making drawings, actually we found more than 1000 drawings, all representing the flowers of her garden. Finally we discovered a small notebook in which she described all the movies she saw on cinema since 1949. In all the videos of this installation, her two daughters and her grand daughter are performing actions using all those odd and fragile collections.
This installation is questionning the passing of time, the notions of ritual and transmission inside a family, from a generation to another.
